Eternal Anima Director Discusses a Legacy Passed Down by Developers in New Video Series Featuring Hironobu Sakaguchi, Nobuo Uematsu, and More
Marvelous USA today shared a new video series for Eternal Anima, a brand-new RPG created by acclaimed genre veterans, which is in development for Nintendo Switch™ 2, PlayStation®5, XBOX Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam with a global launch date of March 4, 2027. Now localized with English subtitles, the ‘Special Discussion’ video series sits down with key members of the Eternal Anima development team and special guests from the Japanese game industry to discuss their storied histories, giving viewers more details about the upcoming legacy-driven JRPG and the approach the team took in its creation.
The first installment features a conversation between Eternal Anima director Katsuhisa Higuchi and Mistwalker’s Hironobu Sakaguchi. Having developed JRPGs together for many years, the two reunite to explore the game’s central concept of “legacy,” discussing topics ranging from their passion for and perspectives on JRPGs to their attention to details such as the contents of treasure chests. Viewers can also gain insights into how the studio tackled a time-traveling narrative without creating paradoxes, and how Psychometry features into both learning new skills and adds depth with the Future Sight Battle combat system.

The second installment welcomes Hitoshi Sakimoto of Basiscape, who serves as the game’s music producer, alongside famed guest composer Nobuo Uematsu, who continues to create iconic music for numerous JRPGs. Together, they engage in a passionate discussion about musical expression and challenges in JRPGs, as well as their hopes for the next generation of composers. A physical Limited Edition is also available on the same platforms, which includes a copy of the game, a two-disc soundtrack, nine character art cards with a display stand, and an art book for $79.99 on PS5™ and $89.99 on Nintendo Switch™ 2.
