Tripwire Presents, the publishing division of Tripwire Interactive, and independent Turkish developer BEF Games today announced the launch of the free ‘From the Streets’ update for their open world action-simulation and management game, The Boss Gangster: Criminal Empire on PC via Steam Early Access. The ‘From the Streets’ update introduces a living criminal ecosystem, moving the game away from its previous nightclub-focused structure towards a fully open sandbox experience. The publisher revealed a new trailer showcasing significant changes and expansions of core gameplay systems alongside a free playable demo and limited time 20% discount running May 8 – 15.

The new update awakens Night City’s criminal underworld with combat and vehicle changes, advanced policing, new side hustles, and the expansion of large-scale drug production systems.

The ‘From the Streets’ content update includes:

  • Progression Changes: Players now choose how they begin their criminal empire with four starting scenarios: From Nothing, Thief, Dealer, and Club Owner.
  • Advanced Police and Wanted System: Police actively patrol and detect crimes in real time with responses scaling to the severity of the crime. Arrested players can earn freedom by paying a fine, waiting out the sentence, or doing community service. Killing a police officer triggers increased patrol presence and a shoot on sight wanted state that decays with successful evasion over time.
  • Warehouse and Worker Expansions: A fully fleshed out warehouse system allows for management of large-scale drug production. Upgrade warehouses to unlock more rooms and stations, but keep work environments clean to avoid sick employees.
  • New Side Hustles: Earn extra cash as a taxi driver and discover jobs in the daily newspaper. Manage club entry as a doorman or run a hot dog cart while secretly dealing to certain customers.
  • Combat and Equipment Durability: Players can now carry a pistol, rifle and melee weapon at the same time. Weapons will lose durability with use but can be repaired at crafting tables.
  • Vehicle Changes: Steal vehicles and use them in combat and illegal street races. Customize and repair any damages to avoid permanently losing vehicles in fiery explosions.
  • UI Changes and Audio Enhancements: The minimap system has been refined and now has the ability to track rival faction members. The update also adds 22 new songs for a total of 34 original tracks along with three new in-game radio stations for deeper audio immersion.
