Juan Castro studied Journalism at San Jose State University in hopes of becoming a magazine writer. Along the way he dealt with numerous delays, though turned out particularly illuminating. His stop at NHA magazine, a Bay Area startup magazine, saw him interview up-and-coming media personalities and local entrepreneurs, not to mention sample some of the best Vietnamese cuisine California has to offer.
The experience led to a series of freelance opportunities scattered across publications in the San Francisco Bay Area. Eventually, the stint as a freelance writer led him through the doors of one of the leading online gaming web organizations, IGN Entertainment and IGN.com, where he initially worked as an associate editor covering the trends and happenings in the world of Nintendo. Shortly into his IGN career, he moved over to work on the Sony PlayStation team where he stayed on top of the latest and greatest Sony gaming news and topics including the highly anticipated PS 3 launch.
The change agreed with him, though after three years of covering the industry through Sony-colored glasses, the time was right for him to make his next professional move. |
Not that his time at IGN failed to make an impression on him. On the contrary, the position dragged him through everything the industry has to offer, from covering world-class events to interviewing key figures in the business. He also walked away with an impressive collection of game-related knickknacks.
But it was only a matter of time before he jumped the editorial wall and wound up on the public relations side of the interactive entertainment business. Juan welcomed the chance to work among good friends at ONE PR Studio, even if his PR colleagues would subject him to an endless string of Juan-related jokes and tomfoolery. Juan at JUAN PR Studio is where it’s at, or so they say.
Juan is often called upon by his ONE PR Studio PR colleagues and clients to put on his “editorial hat” which has helped add an unique and beneficial perspective to all the PR initiatives and campaigns he and his colleagues work on. When not sitting behind his desk at the ONE PR offices, Juan spends his time watching bad movies and equally bad television, reading and hanging out with his wife and 2-year old daughter.
ONE PR Studio is reflected by the highly seasoned and well respected individuals that make up the company. Meet our founders.
