Online Game Reveals the Impetus for Nour’s Decision to Flee Syria for Refuge in Europe

PARIS – November 2, 2017 – The award-winning mobile adventure game, Bury me, my Love – depicting a Syrian refugee’s hazardous journey to safety in Europe, via a WhatsApp-style messaging interface – has received a short prologue, playable for free online via mobile and desktop browsers.

Bury me, my Love: Nour’s Choice illustrates, in 15-30 minutes, why Nour was compelled to flee Syria, despite having to leave her husband, Majd, behind. We learn of Nour’s actions and fate – in both Nour’s Choice and Bury me, my Love – from Majd’s perspective, via the instant messenger communication he has with his wife.

Both a great way for existing players of Bury me, my Love to learn more about the relationship between Nour and Majd, and their fraught situation, and for newcomers to introduce themselves to the themes and interface of the full mobile game, Bury me, my Love: Nour’s Choice is available to play now, here.

Bury me, my Love was released for iOS and Android platforms on October 26, 2017, attracting coverage at GamesBeat, Engadget, Videogamer and more while winning the Developer’s Choice award at IndieCade Europe 2017.

The game follows, through a WhatsApp-like interface, the journey of a refugee from Syria to Europe, from the perspective of her husband who has to stay behind in the equally dangerous surroundings of their war-ravaged home. It has been produced in consultation with real-life refugees, but the game’s characters are fictional.

Co-developed by French independent studios The Pixel Hunt and Figs in a co-production with ARTE, and published by Playdius, Bury me, my Love is a unique take on the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis. Bury me, my Love is a premium title available on the App Store and Google Play store, priced at $2.99 (€3.49 in Europe and £2.99 in the UK).

You can follow the game via the official website or on social media via Twitter or Facebook.
